FOCUS OF THE CONFERENCE

The scientific focus of AQoL2026Bangkok (10th Asia-Pacific International Conference on Quality of Life) is Quality of Life (QoL), examined through the multidisciplinary perspectives of Environment-Behaviour Studies (EBS) and Environmental Psychology, with particular attention to the environmental, behavioural, social, cultural, technological, and spatial factors that shape QoL within diverse Asia-Pacific contexts.

The conference provides a multidisciplinary platform for investigating the dimensions, determinants, experiences, and implications of QoL. It examines how physical, social, cultural, technological, institutional, and natural environments influence human behaviour, lived experiences, wellbeing, and quality of life, as well as how human activities, practices, and decisions shape these environments. Research may address individual and collective QoL, including the environmental conditions that enhance or constrain wellbeing and everyday life across different geographical and sociocultural settings.

Research addressing Asian and Asia-Pacific societies, communities, cities, settlements, institutions, cultures, built environments, ecological settings, and spatial conditions is particularly welcome. Comparative and cross-country studies are encouraged where they offer meaningful insights into QoL and its relationships with environmental characteristics, human behaviour, and lived experience.

To maintain thematic coherence, submissions should demonstrate a substantive connection to Quality of Life, investigated through Environment-Behaviour Studies, Environmental Psychology, human-environment relationships, spatial experience, environmental conditions, behaviour, wellbeing, or related dimensions of human experience. Research from different disciplines is welcome where its relevance to QoL is clearly established.

All submissions should align with one of the following six permanent research tracks, each providing a distinct perspective for investigating QoL and its environmental and behavioural dimensions.

Track 1 — Smart Technology & Digital Behavioural Environments
Research on digital and technology-mediated environments, digital communication, smart technologies, digital healthcare, learning environments, and behavioural interactions, including their implications for QoL, wellbeing, accessibility, and everyday experiences. Relevant socio-cultural, institutional, and policy dimensions are also included.

Track 2 — Socio-Economic, Management & Public Policy Environments
Research examining socioeconomic environments, organisational and management settings, institutional relationships, public policy, professional practices, and ethics, particularly their relationships with human behaviour, environmental outcomes, social conditions, and QoL.

Track 3 — Built Environment, Spatial Design & Spatial Infrastructure
Research addressing architecture, urban design, spatial planning, infrastructure, housing, mixed-use developments, pedestrian environments, and spatial behaviour, with emphasis on how the quality, functionality, accessibility, safety, and experience of built environments influence QoL.

Track 4 — Social, Cultural & Community Interaction
Research on social and cultural environments, community interaction, public spaces, creative and cultural settings, social engagement, local identity, and human interaction within shared environments, including their contributions to social wellbeing, belonging, community life, and QoL.

Track 5 — Human Development, Spatial Education & Physical Wellbeing
Research concerning human development, education, health, wellbeing, ageing, caregiving, physical activity, and learning environments, particularly the spatial, social, and environmental conditions that influence human development, physical and psychological wellbeing, and QoL throughout life.

Track 6 — Sustainability, Energy & Natural Environments
Research addressing sustainability, environmental vulnerability, energy and thermal conditions, climate adaptation, natural environments, environmental cognition, and human responses to changing environmental conditions, including their implications for environmental experience, wellbeing, resilience, and QoL.

SCOPE SCREENING

All submissions are subject to an initial scope assessment to determine whether they demonstrate a substantive relationship to Quality of Life (QoL), examined through Environment-Behaviour Studies (EBS), Environmental Psychology, or relevant human-environment relationships within the conference’s Asia-Pacific contextual focus.

Submissions should address QoL or a relevant dimension of human experience, wellbeing, behaviour, environmental conditions, or spatial relationships that contributes meaningfully to understanding the factors shaping quality of life. Research from different disciplines is welcome where its relevance to QoL and the conference’s scholarly focus is clearly established.

Submissions that do not demonstrate sufficient relevance to the conference scope may not proceed to peer review.

The six permanent research tracks provide a framework for organising the conference programme around different dimensions of QoL. They do not restrict interdisciplinary, comparative, or cross-contextual research where a submission demonstrates a clear and substantive contribution to understanding QoL.

PROCEEDINGS PUBLICATION AND MANUSCRIPT REQUIREMENTS

Papers accepted for publication following the applicable peer-review, revision, editorial, and ethical procedures will be published in the Environment-Behaviour Proceedings Journal (E-BPJ) (eISSN 2398-4287), Volume 11, Number 38 (September 2026).

Authors must prepare their final manuscripts in accordance with the applicable conference template and publication instructions, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all required scholarly and bibliographic information. Manuscripts must clearly present their research objectives, methods, findings, and scholarly contributions in accordance with the applicable requirements. Where relevant, authors should establish the contribution of their research to understanding Quality of Life and its environmental, behavioural, social, cultural, technological, or spatial dimensions.

Manuscripts that do not meet the final publication requirements may be returned for correction before production. Inclusion in the proceedings is subject to completion of the applicable peer-review, revision, editorial, ethical, and publication requirements.
